Heidi Lanino is a figurative abstract artist living and working in the Hudson Valley. She studied drawing and painting at Pratt Institute as one of four recipients of a full-tuition merit scholarship. Early in her career, she worked as an art director for L’Oréal before fully dedicating herself to her artistic practice and arts education. A passionate advocate for the arts, she is committed to bringing creativity and the artistic process to the wider community.
Lanino’s work explores the relationship between the body and both physical and emotional space as a narrative. Her process is intuitive, working across canvas, paper, wood, metal, and clay, often folding materials to create sculptural portraits of the female form. Her Folded Female series investigates themes of sensuality, societal ideals of beauty, identity, and the continuous process of folding and unfolding—an exploration of transformation and the lived human experience. Her work in wood creates cubist-inspired sculptures that reinterpret the human form. Each piece embodies a sense of transformation, capturing fleeting moments of emotion and expression within a structured, sculptural form.
Her work has been widely exhibited in the U.S. and abroad, including recent shows at The Lockwood Gallery, Ann Connelly Fine Art, and the Prince Gallery, as well as The Core Club, Flatiron Prow Space, and A.I.R. Gallery, NY. Lanino has spoken on several artist panels, notably alongside Douglas Sheer of the Artist Talk on Art series (ATOA).
Lanino has been featured in Architectural Digest, Vogue UK, Aspire Design, T: The New York Times Style Magazine, and others. Her work is held in the permanent collections of the ACLU, The Carlyle Hotel, HBO, and various private and public collections.
"My work explores the relationship between the body and both physical and emotional space as a narrative. My process is intuitive—I work across canvas, paper, wood, metal, and clay, often folding materials to create sculptural portraits of the female form. In my Folded Female series, I investigate themes of sensuality, societal ideals of beauty, identity, and the continuous process of folding and unfolding—an exploration of transformation and the lived human experience. My work with wood takes the form of cubist-inspired sculptures that reinterpret the human body. Each piece embodies a sense of transformation, capturing fleeting moments of emotion and expression within a structured, sculptural form".
