From September 3 to 20
Galerie Amelie du Chalard presents the first solo exhibition devoted to Edward Baran (1934-2021) since his death. A leading figure in contemporary art, Edward Baran developed a singular body of work, at the crossroads of the pictorial gesture, weaving and the sculpture of emptiness.
From 3 to 20 September, in the heart of the 6ᵉ arrondissement, the exhibition offers a look back at his entire career through a selection of rare works, some of which will be shown to the public for the first time. We discover a practice nourished by rhythm and matter, shot through with a tension in which the artist deconstructs the surface with an almost insolent rigour.
This exhibition celebrates a rare and profoundly demanding artist, whose work continues to resonate with its silent force, its mastery of emptiness and the subtle tension between matter and space.
