A place asserts itself along my path. The approach between us is holistic—an integrated dialogue between spiritual, environmental, and anthropic dimensions. This conversation—this gathering of material-witnesses—takes shape through long meditative walks and encounters with inhabitants, in nature as in the city.
Rather than turning toward what is solid, figurative, and rational, I am drawn to what is liquid, abstract, and sensual. Water is fertility, purity, a source of Life and metamorphosis. Water lies at the heart of my observations and is omnipresent in my works—at once a source of inspiration, a pigment, and a reflection of the human condition. From the Amazon Rainforest to the Mer de Glace, by way of Venice, Cyprus, Lanzarote, the Atlantic Forest, Chapada dos Veadeiros, Naoshima, Porquerolles, the streets of Paris and Curitiba—each place visited so far, regardless of its territorial identity, has Water as its guiding thread. Each plays an important role in the Universe.
The material-witnesses I gather reveal the genius loci: water, plants, shells, minerals, soil, and conversations are living pigments, imbued with ancestral knowledge and experience. True relics, they powerfully testify to the past, present, and future of a place—and of ourselves. Pictorial expression thus becomes a biological, neuroscientific, archaeological, philosophical, sociological, political, cosmological, and spiritual language. In this way, I emphasize the inseparable unity between nature, the cosmos, and the human being.
If my artistic choice is to adopt a metaphysical and abstract language, it is to move beyond pre-established knowledge and its rational references—words, cultures, and the ego—and ultimately to evoke sensations, or reveal the mysteries of Life. I invite the viewer to feel an integral part of these body-landscape-paintings, or simply to experience their vibration, lived presence, and energy—or even to feel themselves (free!) by plunging into the universal ancestry embodied in the work.
The surface of the work is whole and visible. The alliance between the painting-figure and its support is a metaphor for the acceptance of our dualities. These are not opposed but complementary, like Water, which blends, mirrors, and flows through. It is a universal vision of the world in which harmony among all forms of Life is present.
Daniela Busarello describes herself as cosmos, water, dust, plant, placenta: atom. Meditating on the idea attributed to Friedrich Nietzsche—“Become who you are”—her art affirms the unity between human, nature, and cosmos, absorbing the memory of places drawn from the materials and conversations she gathers there.
Since 2020, Daniela Busarello has oriented her research toward Brazil and its essential role in global balance, sustained by the richness of its biomes, waters, and cultures. The series Mar Verde is an ode to the Urban Atlantic Forest, while Cartas às Amazonas offers an ecofeminist and archaeological correspondence centered on the Amazon River. Beyond territorial identities, she follows Water as a guiding thread.
Her works call for a symbiosis to come, linking ancestral memories with present-day healing. They are poetic contemplations of our place—both fragile and precious—within the great narrative of the living world. Her credo: to defend respect for all forms of life, whatever their nature, beliefs, gender, or nationality.
